Trainee Development Assistant (RAD Cymru Wales)
Annie joined the Little Door team in 2022 as a Trainee Production Assistant, and is performing her new development role alongside completing training on the RAD Cymru traineeship scheme. Annie has long been passionate about TV and film, graduating in 2020 from Bangor University with a degree in Creative Studies. Her role in Bangor’s Film Society saw her take on roles such as writer, editor, production assistant and actor across a number of short student films. Originally from South Wales, Annie’s interests lie in the power of stories to connect people, to unite, inspire, and create change in society, with a particular focus on local stories, real people, and Welsh talent.
Co-Founder and CEO
Elwen co-founded Little Door Production in her hometown of Cardiff in 2019. The company was founded with an ambition to produce compelling quality drama for the UK and global markets and to work with the best talent. Elwen oversees the development slate and serves as executive producer on of the company’s productions.
Prior to setting up Little Door Productions, Elwen had an extensive career in television production as producer and script editor. She began her career as an Acquisitions Assistant for Channel 4, went on to join BBC Wales, where her credits as script editor included the first series of Russell T Davies’ reboot of Doctor Who and an adaptation of Nina Bawden’s Carrie’s War. Moving to Kudos Film and TV in 2005, Rowlands gained her first producing credit on an adaptation of Jean Rhys’ Wide Sargasso Sea, which starred Rebecca Hall and Rafe Spall, and was also script editor on the first series of the Emmy award-winning Life on Mars. She went on to produce for ITV, Sky and leading independent production companies on titles such as Vera, the Playhouse Presents series and The Last Post.
Executive Producer
Bethan began her career as an actor before turning to developing and directing new writing in theatre, eventually evolving those skills for television. During her time as producer, executive producer and acting Head of Drama at BBC Wales, she worked on many series and singles including the multi award winning Sherlock, War and Peace, Aberfan: The Green Hollow, A Poet in New York, The Long Walk to Finchley, Merlin, Mistresses, Under Milk Wood. A short time at Cuba Pictures was followed by a freelance period during which she has continued to develop work with Cuba as well as with Martha Stone Productions, also executive producing Andrew Davies’ adaptation of Les Miserables for Lookout Point, BBC and Masterpiece.
In 2019 Bethan joined Playrgound Entertainment as Executive Creative Director, a role which included the development and executive producing of the bold reimagining of Dangerous Liaisons for Starz Lionsgate which launched in November 2022. An Emmy, Bafta and Grierson Documentary Award nominated and Bafta Cymru winner, Bethan was the recipient of the BAFTA Cymru 2019 Sian Phillips Award for significant contribution to TV drama. She is co-founder and co-creative director of REDSEAM – a company dedicated to developing and producing innovative tv drama made in Wales. Bethan joined Little Door Productions as Executive Producer in November 2022.
Development Producer
Beth joined Little Door in 2022 where she works as a development producer across a number of projects. She started her career in production working across film and television before moving over to the editorial side of things. Her credits include Stella (Sky One) and Suspects (Channel 5) before story lining and script diting Casualty (BBC One) for a number of years.
Prior to joining Little Door, Beth was the Development Producer for BBC Writersroom Wales, championing new writing talent across Wales.
Head of Development
Sam Joined Little Door Productions in 2020 as Head of Development. He works across a slate of ambitious and authored drama by both established and emerging talent. Sam started his career as a script editor in high end TV drama, working across the adaptions of the Robert Galbraith/JK Rowling detective novels Strike, as well as Mike Bartlett’s Press, for BBC One and Endeavour for ITV. Most recently Sam was a Development Producer at The Ink Factory and oversaw the development of a new series adaption of The Spy Who Came in from the Cold for BBC / AMC written by Michael Lesslie.
He has an encyclopaedic knowledge or film and television that never fails to impress.
Co-Founder and COO
Hayley Manning is co-founder and COO of Cardiff-based drama production company Little Door Productions, which was founded alongside Elwen Rowlands in 2019. Manning oversees production, financial and business affairs for the company.
Prior to setting up Little Door Productions, Manning has built up significant experience working in independent TV and Film as an accomplished Line Producer and Head of Production in both features and television production. Her experience includes working at Bonafide Films as of Head of Production and Finance where she oversaw BBC period drama The Last Post, written by Peter Moffat.
Previously, during her tenure at Ipso Facto Films through the roles of Chief Operating Officer, Head of Production and Financial Controller, Manning worked across 15 feature films, many of them European co-productions, including SoulBoy (Felicity Jones, Martin Compston), Comes A Bright Day (Timothy Spall, Imogen Poots and Craig Roberts), music documentary Who Killed Nancy? and Irina Palm (Marianne Faithfull, Predga Manijlovic and Jenny Agutter).
Office Coordinator
Emily joined Little Door in 2022 following five years working alongside the BBC Network Drama Commissioning team as Development Coordinator for BBC Writersroom Wales. Prior to this, Emily has worked as Drama Coordinator for BBC Drama Wales, at Sara Putt Associates and as Awards Administrator at BAFTA Cymru.
